Over the years and while doing shows I am often asked a variety of questions
concerning my engraving . Below are some of the most common questions I receive. Hopefully this will help answer some of your questions. If you have any question concerning the engraving that are not covered on this page, please feel free to contact me
1. Q: What is the turn around time for engraving?
A: I engrave part time on weekends and turn around time is usually 2-3 weeks but may vary depending on shows I have scheduled and prior engraving projects to complete. I do not do rush orders.
2. Q: What types of materials can you engrave on?
A: I am able to engrave on most types of material - wood, glass, metal (tempered steel, stainless steel, pewter, copper, brass, nickel/silver, titanium aircraft aluminum ), and Plexiglass. I can engrave on just about any hard material.
3. Q: What items do you engrave?
A: I engrave guns (barrels, stocks, trigger guards, etc), pistol grips, knives, motorcycles (mirrors, windshields), mirrors, glass (includes wine glasses, wine bottles and champagne flutes. Champagne bottles cannot be engraved due to the carbonation).
4. Q: Can you really engrave Chrome?
A: Yes, I have engraved chrome, mostly on motorcycles. However, please be advised that once the chrome is engraved it must be protected by applying a some type of protective coating to keep the area from rusting.
5. Q: Do you make the knives that you sell with engraving on them?
A: No, all engraved knives that are for sale are manufactured or custom made knives. I do not sell knives without the engraving.
6. Q: Do you make Gun Grips?
A. No, I do not make gun grips.
7. Q: What are your engraving prices?
A: Prices for Lettering of 3 initials is usually $25.00 depending on size.
Lettering over 3 intials start at $35.00 for the first 10 letters and .50 for each letter after 10.
Engraving on a pair of pistol grips is $75.00 *** Please note: I do not sell or make grips.*** It's difficult to set an engraving price for all designs. Engraving prices vary depending on size and detail of the design, the material engraved, and depth of engraving. For this reason, please ask for a price quote.
8. Q: Can I mail you an item to be engraved?
A: Yes, many customers have sent me their items via mail to be engraved.
9. Q: Can I use my own design to be engraved?
A: Yes, the design you want must be in the form of a black and white line drawing. Your design can be emailed to me if you wish.
10. Q: How long have you been engraving?
A: 16 years
11. Q: Do you have a shop I can drop an item off to be engraved?
A: No I work out of my home. Items to be engraved are dropped off by appointment only.
12. Q: Will having an item engrave enhance the price value of the item?
A: That depends on the item and the reason for the engraving. If the item is an antique I would be inclined to say no, however, it really depends on a individual's personal preference. In this case the beauty and value of an engraved item is in the eye of the beholder.
13. Q: Can you engrave the inside of a motorcycle windshield?
A: Yes, however, the windshield would need to be taken off for me to do so.
