Hello, I am Penny Graham, owner and engraver, of Engraving Extraordinare. I started engraving in 1992.
People often ask me how I first got started doing engraving. Engraving was first presented to me as a home business opportunity by a company called Paragraphics. I was looking for something that I could do year round and give me the opportunity to be creative and work with my hands. I also wanted to be able to create something special and lasting for people. Engraving seemed to be the answer. I decided to give it a try and I taught myself how to engrave through watching training videos and many hours of hard work of study and practice.
I started out doing a few shows in the Atlanta area, which has now expanded to several shows a year, encompassing Georgia and Tennessee. I attend two types of shows, indoor gun and knife shows and motorcycle events. I engrave onsite at motorcycle events and do shows mostly with Stone Mountain and Granite Mountain Harley Davidson. I was invited to be a vendor at the 2006 Blade Show and have attended every year since then. I was one of the vendors at the AMA/FIM International Women & Motorcycling Conference in Athens, GA.
I always enjoy doing the shows which gives me the opportunity to speak with customers who have given me some helpful and wonderful feedback and ideas. One of those wonderful ideas was letting me know it was time to have a website!
To this day I still enjoy engraving! Although I am not a free hand artist, I have learned to put together different designs to create new designs. I attempt to make the engraving design flow with the item I am engraving. I also feel the engraving should enhance the item rather than take away from it.
Although I have a large design book to choose designs from, I encourage customers to use their own creativity to create their own
design that would have special meaning to them.
I currently work a full time job and do my engraving part time on the weekends. However, I do hope to eventually expand my engraving business to full time sometime in the future.
As always I value any feedback you might have concerning this website and how I can improve it and make it easier for you to view.
